Trafficbot life google analytics2/18/2023 ![]() This data is too consistent to be normal. Doesn’t that seem strange? Normal sites with human audiences should show a variety of devices from laptops to desktops, smartphones to tablets, Macs vs PCs, etc. All four sources have the same pages per session, the same bounce rates, and roughly the same ratio of Android (mobile) traffic - 99%. Taking the top four referring sites (the ones sending the most traffic) you can immediately see a few strange things. In this first example, we look at traffic from referring sites. To make this more tangible, let me illustrate with a few examples from over the years. Botnets are easily programmed to do the same thing repeatedly (too consistent) or to use randomized values (too random) Human behavior, like nature, usually form bell-shaped curves where certain values are common (middle of the bell-shaped curve) and other values are outliers. Look for anything that is too consistent or too random. ![]() Human audiences cannot collude amongst themselves to behave exactly the same way but bots can - the same instruction guides all the bots to do the same thing.
